The National Plan to address Alzheimer's disease
Psychology has been active and continues to monitor and provide input to the implementation of this first National Plan. For example, on Nov. 29, neuropsychologist Glenn Smith, PhD, chair of the APA group that updated the APA Guidelines for the Evaluation of Dementia and Age-Related Cognitive Change (2011) and geropsychologist Dolores Gallagher-Thompson, PhD, were participants of a Health Research and Services Administration (HRSA) invitation-only meeting to discuss developing a repository of dementia-specific guidelines, curricula and available resources for accessing long-term services and supports related to Alzheimer's disease for all provider groups across the care spectrum. Information on the National Plan and APA efforts related to cognitive aging and dementia is available.
