APA staff to raise money for kids during "Go Casual for Charity Day"

In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, staff donations will go to local organizations.

APA staff will participate in a "Go Casual for Charity Day" on April 30. APA holds quarterly Go Casual days to raise funds to support organizations in the Washington, D.C. area.

April's focus will be "Go Casual for Kids," in recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Staff donations will go to these local organizations:

  • Safe Shores — The DC Children's Advocacy Center, which coordinates medical and mental health providers, social services professionals, victim advocates, law enforcement and prosecution officials to reduce trauma and promote healing for child victims of violence.

  • Courtney's House, which provides a loving environment for girls and boys, 12-18, who are survivors of sex trafficking.

"Brown bag lunch" discussions for staff, featuring speakers from these organizations, will be held in conjunction with the fundraiser. APA's NOVA staff committee (Neighborhood Opportunities for Volunteer Activities) and APA's Staff Initiatives Office are sponsoring this activity.
