APA provides testimony on critical veteran suicide issues
M. David Rudd, PhD, ABPP, provided testimony on APA’s behalf at a recent hearing on veteran suicide issues. The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs continues to highlight, utilizing the expertise of psychologists, the urgent need to address the tragedy of suicide among veteran populations.
On February 24, PI-GRO and the Practice Directorate coordinated the testimony of APA member M. David Rudd, PhD, ABPP, who spoke on behalf of APA before the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. The hearing focused on veteran suicide and medications. Dr. Rudd, a military veteran and suicide expert, served on the suicide classification review panel for the series of FDA studies that resulted in the warning label. His testimony discussed issues related to medications and suicide and highlighted the importance of behavioral interventions for suicidal veterans.
