2008 Membership Dues

APA membership provides you with valuable resources and benefits that enhance your career and connects you to the world’s largest network of psychologists. APA membership is based on the calendar year (January - December). If your application is approved in September through December of the current year, your membership and subscriptions to the Monitor on Psychology and the American Psychologist will begin with the next available issues and continue through the next calendar year.

2008 MEMBER DUES    (member requirements) $78 New first-year member only $279 Basic member rate In support of new doctorate candidates and early career psychologists, APA offers individuals new to APA membership a generous first year discount and an eight-step graduated dues structure that gradually increases the rate marginally over an eight year period. Members receive a $55 journal credit.   2008 MEMBER PRACTICE ASSESSMENT    (information about assessment) $25 1 – 12 months licensed $75 13 – 24 months licensed $133 25+ months licensed If an APA member is a licensed psychologist and is engaged in the provision or supervision of health or mental health-related services an additional fee applies as specified above. This fee supports APA’s companion organization, the APA Practice Organization which is exclusively devoted to advancing the goals of the practitioner community.   2008 ASSOCIATE DUES   (associate requirements) $67 New first-year associate only $201 Basic associate rate Associates receive a $55 journal credit.   2008 AFFILIATE DUES    (affiliate requirements) $51 Graduate student $27 Undergraduate student $27 High school student $27 International $32 High school teacher $35 Community college teacher APA welcomes psychology students, beginning in high school and continuing through their undergraduate and graduate training; psychologists living outside of the United States; and teachers at the high school and two-year college levels. Student Affiliates receive a $10 journal credit. Undergraduate and high school student affiliates may also join APAGS for an additional $24.   2008 SPECIAL RATES APA has special reduced-rates and exempt dues memberships for qualifying members. Click below to see if you qualify. Life Member Reduction If you are 65 or older and have 25 years or more of paid APA membership you may choose to take advantage of the dues-reduction benefit. APA and CPA Dual Membership If you belong to APA and the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) you could save 50% on APA basic dues. Discount Membership Program If you belong to APA and the Association for Psychological Science (APS) or one of the organizations of the Federation of Behavioral, Psychological and Cognitive Sciences, you could save 25% on APA basic dues.
