Apply for the Graduate Student Ethics Award

APA's Ethics Committee and APAGS invite students to submit their theoretical or empirical papers on psychology and ethics for the Graduate Student Ethics Award. Papers will be judged on their quality, originality, clarity and the adequacy of their literature review. Two award winners will receive $1,000, a round-trip ticket to APA's 2013 Annual Convention in Honolulu, July 31–Aug. 4, and three nights of hotel accommodation. Apply by Jan. 4.

Apply for a general psychology award

APA's Div. 1 (Society for General Psychology) invites promising psychology doctoral students at any stage of their education to apply for the $250 Anne Anastasi Graduate Student Award, which honors psychology students whose research shows potential to make substantial contributions to any area of psychology. Applications are due Feb. 15.

$1,500 teaching award available

APA's Div. 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology) invites graduate students to apply for the Wilbert J. McKeachie Teaching Excellence Award. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to spark student interest in psychology through lectures, class projects and other methods. Award winners receive $1,500 and a plaque. Apply by Jan. 11. 

Nominate a psychopharmacology or substance abuse dissertation

APA's Div. 28 (Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse) invites students who completed a doctoral dissertation on psychopharmacology or substance abuse in 2012 or 2011 to apply for a $250 dissertation award. The winner also receives an engraved plaque and travel funds to present the research at any psychology conference. Applications are due Jan. 5.

Apply for an exercise and sport psychology award

APA's Div. 47 (Exercise and Sport) invites students to apply for its exercise and sport psychology dissertation award. The winner will receive a plaque and the opportunity to present the research at APA's 2013 Annual Convention in Honolulu, July 31–Aug. 4. Applications are due Jan. 8.

Fund your family dynamics research

Students who research family or couples dynamics, or multigenerational processes, can apply for the $6,000 Randy Gerson Memorial Grant. The grant supports research in theory, assessment or clinical practice. Apply by Feb. 1. 

Fund your research on human reproductive behavior

Graduate students who are conducting dissertation research on any aspect of human reproductive behavior or population trends can apply for the Henry P. David grant to defray their research expenses. Apply by Feb. 15.

Apply to attend an APA Advanced Training Institute

APA's Science Directorate sponsors intensive one-week institutes for advanced graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty to get in-depth experience with topics that are often not taught in graduate school. Topics for 2013 include "Structural Equation Modeling in Longitudinal Research," "Exploratory Data Mining," "Non-Linear Methods" and "Research Methods with Diverse Racial and Ethnic Groups." Applications are due in March.

Nominate a student-friendly psychological association

Does your local psychological association provide mentoring, leadership and training opportunities for students? If so, nominate it for a $1,500 APAGS/Committee for the Advancement of Professional Practice/Div. 31 (State, Provincial and Territorial Psychological Association Affairs) SPTA Award. Nominations are due Jan. 14.

Fund your travel to a pediatric psychology conference

APA's Div. 54 (Society of Pediatric Psychology) invites psychology students, interns and postdoctoral fellows to apply for up to $1,000 in funding to travel to a pediatric psychology meeting or workshop. Applications are due Jan. 30.
