APA Governance members meet with congressional staff to advocate for the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

As part of a Coordinated Advocacy Campaign administered by PI-GRO, members of APA’s Committee on Women in Psychology (CWP) participated in one-on-one visits in the district offices of their local members of Congress to advocate for a comprehensive reauthorization VAWA. Specifically, CWP members asked their representatives to support key public health provisions and protections for vulnerable populations and to reauthorize VAWA in the 112th Congress. Prior to their visits, CWP members participated in advocacy training provided by PI-GRO. The Coordinated Advocacy Campaign served as an extension of previous APA advocacy efforts on this issue.
