Dorothy Cantor, PsyD

Dorothy Cantor, PsyD, is a 1976 graduate of the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. She currently serves as president of the American Psychological Foundation and previously served on the Board of Directors of APA and as chair of APA Insurance Trust.
Cantor organized and chaired both the APA Committee on Urban Initiatives and the Task Force on the Changing Gender Composition of Psychology. She is a past president of the New Jersey Psychological Association and for five years served as director of professional affairs for that association. She is a co-founder of Women in Psychology for Legislative Action, a national political action committee. She has been a member of the board of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving.
Cantor, who serves as a trustee of Rutgers University, was inducted in the Rutgers University Hall of Distinguished Alumni. She has a private practice in Westfield, New Jersey, and has written or edited six books and numerous articles focusing on women's issues and advocacy. These include: Finding Your Voice and What Do You Want to Do When You Grow Up?
